This is a very important topic. So often we just believe a particular view or think that the Bible states things that it doesn't. Often as we begin to do an honest and objective examination of particular issues, sometimes the results can be very amazing. Good study.

John Stewart is a comedian. Maybe it's prudent that you compare Tolle to him in your defense of his nonsense teachings. Glen Beck presents evidence for just about everything he talks about on his show and as far as I have seen is not trying to convince anyone to stop thinking for themselves.

Tolle's goal is to place people in a state of mindless bliss where they do not think. We face many enemies that leftist liberals, out of fear and cowardice, would rather try to appease than stand up to. This country cannot afford a large percentage of Tolle zombies pretending that everything is ok if you simply accept his idiocy and ignore the world around you.

His teachings are contrary to the Bible. This is not difficult to see for anyone who reads the Bible.

Your words echo the same mindless sentiment that so many of his other followers use in pretending that they "get" something the rest of us don't.

Wake up!

Howdy! Old, old post, and not much conversation here, but I'll pitch in anyway.

None of us are eternal? On the contrary. All of us are eternal, at least if you listen to Jesus. As I recall, he offers eternal life (Matt. 19:16; 19:26; John 3:16)...which is the opposite of eternal fire (Matt. 25:46). Whichever our eternal orientation, we are, nonetheless, eternal...and our actions in this life are the foundation upon which that eternity is built.

I do grasp Tolle, and you can too. You don't have to agree, but it would help to understand. What Tolle is suggesting here is not "stop thinking for yourself and let Glenn Beck/John Stewart do all your thinking for you." It's self-negation, which is an ancient and orthodox Christian practice. Emptying yourself of your own jabbering thoughts and the whirlwind of the passions is part of the effort to conform ourselves to Christ, who "..made himself nothing, taking on the nature of a servant." (Phil. 2:6-8) It's a recognition that we are saved not by our reason, or by our passions, but by humbling ourselves in the same manner as our Lord.

My reply is different because I offered support of what I said. I did not say "ALL" muslims as you claim. I mentioned in a previous reply that I don't think all people calling themselves muslims know what the quran says. Members of islam commit acts of violence every day. These people proudly claim to be doing these things in the name of allah. Muslims riot when someone says something they take issue with against muhammad as they did over the danish cartoons. When was the last time anyone saw christians rioting because someone made a vile remark against yeshua? Did christians issue a fatwah against Dan Brown over the "Da Vinci Code"? Did islam issue a fatwah agains Salmon Rushdie for the "Satanic Verses" and against Robert Spencer for his writings? Islam reacts over and over to anyone who speaks out against anything about it in violent ways and still sympathizers and members of islam act offended when anyone writes or speaks about it. Are these people doing what the quran teaches? It's not hard to find evidence to answer yes to that question. Can anyone who disagrees with islam simply leave to practice another faith without risking severe consequences? Christians and Jews don't live in fear of reprisals for speaking about what they feel and think. Elohim is capable of ruling mankind without members of the human race deciding on their own who needs to be punished and when. Only when humans are free to choose can it be clear what is in their hearts. A christian who sins today might repent and change tomorrow. God will forgive him. Christians don't cut the hand and foot on opposite sides off to punish those who disagree with them. None of this is generalization. It is all fact. That's the difference.

C'mon Joe, you STILL haven't answered my question: How is my generalization ANY different than yours?

"By narrowing your example to a specific group rather than speaking generically you have made a racist remark hidden in an attempt to cast me as the racist."
-- Haven't you narrowed your example specifically to Muslims rather than speaking generically?

So when I give an example I'm racist, but when you say ALL Muslims intend to rule the world and murder Christians you're not guilty of the same thing?

One more time: How is my generalization ANY different than yours???

By narrowing your example to a specific group rather than speaking generically you have made a racist remark hidden in an attempt to cast me as the racist. This type of behavior is not so uncommon currently. It won't work here though.

Making derogatory remarks about any group of people without facts to back it up is bigoted on the extreme end and at least stereotyping on the smaller end of insults against various classes or races of people.

Every day innocent people are killed by murderous fanatics in the name of Islam. If they were not following the teachings of the quran, then I might be a bigot for making statements about it. However, since these acts are recorded by news groups and eye witnesses and the people doing it claim to be doing it to spread islam and sharia law, my comments are merely truth. Regardless of how angry it may make some people the facts are there to support what I am saying. The quran itself is in fact anti-jewish and anti-christian:

<em>Sura (5:51) - "O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people."</em>

<em>Sura (9:30) The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how perverse they are!</em>

The quran is not so tolerant of jews or christians. Why is this?

I have no doubt that there are many people calling themselves muslim who have never read the quran or the history of muhammad just as many people professing to be christians have not read the bible and know nothing of yeshua. This does not stand as evidence that islam is a peaceful religion.
